The tournament was held at Turfside Indoor Sports Complex located on Verla Drive in Windber. Without the support of our sponsors and volunteers, the event never would have been the huge success that we experienced. December 2 is #GivingTuesday, a very simple idea. Consider the days leading up to #GivingTuesday — a day of thanks and two days of deals, it is only right to designate a day around the holidays for giving. Businesses, families, schools, and communities come together on this global day of giving and show support and generosity toward others in non-profits, charities , people in need, etc.  LHR supported a local Johnstown non-profit organization called Johnstown Area Heritage Association (JAHA). JAHA created a community denim day and employees all over the area made a donation to wear jeans to work that went toward JAHA for its sites and community programs.  #jeansforjaha

Leventry, Haschak & Rodkey, LLC’s (LHR) second toast to “Clink, Drink and Think PINK!” (CDTP) held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Richland Township Fire Hall was even more successful than the organizers could have hoped for! Thanks to the growing interest the community has in this wine tasting event causing tickets to sell out weeks in advance and the additional financial support from e.map, Kongsberg, Whalley Charitable Trust and INCO Beverage, LHR was able to raise $12,428.56 for the patient care services at the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center (JMBCC) of Windber Medical Center. “It is an honor for our firm to host an event like Clink, Drink and Think PINK and to be able to give back to our community in a way that helps others. It is very encouraging to look back and see that we managed to raise over double the amount raised from our first event in 2013,” said Leventry, Haschak & Rodkey, LLC’s managing partner, Attorney Timothy Leventry.

CDTP raised money through ticket sales, monetary donations, a 50/50 ticket raffle, a live auction for a weekend at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and a basket raffle that was supported by local businesses. Patty Felton, Director of JMBCC, spoke to the attendees about how the money raised from the event will benefit patients of the JMBCC and how members of the community can benefit from the services offered at the JMBCC. Five wineries and four non-wine vendors participated in the event. Wine vendors included B&L Wine Cellars, Johnstown; Bee Kind Winery, Clearfield; Starr Hill Winery, Curwensville, Clearfield; Walnut Hill Winery, Blairsville; and Woody Lodge Winery, Ashville. Non-wine vendors included Batter Bake Shop, Johnstown; Lifestyle, Bedford; Nutten But Nuts, Johnsonburg, Elk County; and Sabika Jewelry, Johnstown.  The night also included live entertainment from the musical duo Walt & Jackie.

LHR is very proud of its’ Caring and Sharing Committee for organizing such a successful event. We wish to thank everyone who helped to support CDTP this year.  We can only hope the following years are just as successful!

On April, 2, 2014 at the 20th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast, Attorney Randy Rodkey welcomed Ray Sydnor, a former pro-football player with the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl team, to speak to a room full of early risers who all came together for an inspirational breakfast in support of New Day, Inc.

Attorney Rodkey has been involved with the ministry of New Day for many years. As a member of Friends of New Day, annual sponsors of the event, Attorney Rodkey has found himself as the Master of Ceremonies off and on for the past 20 years. New Day, Inc. is a Christian ministry focused on children, youth and families. The purpose of New Day is to provide the community with programs that meet spiritual, social, emotional and life-skill development needs.

Leventry, Haschak & Rodkey, LLC sponsored a table at the event that had over 180 people in attendance, including State Representative Bryan Barbin, Mayor Frank Janakovic, Cambria County President Commissioner Doug Lengenfelder, three Cambria County Commissioners, the Founder and Executive Director of SportsPower International, Bill Alexson, and the Executive Director of New Day, Rev. Jack Rupert.

We also prepared food baskets filled with perishable and non-perishable food items, and delivered one to each of the families for their holiday feasts. The families were very appreciative and the look on the children’s faces when they saw their gifts made every shopping trip, every long line, and every paper cut so insignificant and worth every second. Offering a helping hand is important to this law firm and is a tradition that will continue within this office for many holidays and years to come.

LHR Supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Western PA and West Virginia Chapter organized the Greater Alleghenies Light the Night Walk held on Oct. 5 at the University of Pitt-Johnstown Campus. Leventry, Haschak & Rodkey, LLC (LHR) formed the team, Move to Strike Cancer, and participated in the event.

Weeks leading up to the event LHR’s race team raised money in support of the Light the Night walk. The money was raised through the team’s Web site page where fellow community members showed their support for the walkers by making a donation. The entire firm also helped to raise money for the team by selling paper balloons and displaying them throughout the office, as well as, making individual donations to members of the team to show their support. In all, LHR’s Move to Strike Cancer race team raised over $800.00. LHR walked in remembrance of a staff member’s father who lost his battle with cancer. The LLS’s goal is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The money that was raised during this event will be used to help improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Pink, pink and more pink! There were plenty of people thinking PINK at Leventry, Haschak & Rodkey’s (LHR) Clink, Drink and Think – PINK! wine tasting event on Friday, May 31 at the Richland Township Fire Hall. The event was a fundraiser organized to benefit the patient care services at the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center of Windber Medical Center.

The evening’s festivities created a way for over 250 members of the community to gather together and support the fight against breast cancer. Pink ribbons and carnations were available for the guests to wear in honor of someone they knew who has been effected by breast cancer, a disease that claims the lives of thousands of women every year

There were three different wineries from three different regions that provided samples of over eight different wines each. The wineries included Walnut Hill Winery, Blairsville, PA, B & L Wine Cellars, Johnstown, PA and Star Hill Vineyard and Winery, Curwensville, PA. Food vendors were also set-up in support of the event that included Batter Bake Shop and O’Shea’s Candies, Johnstown, PA and Sandi Ott’s Tastefully Simple, Windber, PA.

The night included live musical entertainment from Johnstown’s very own Walt & Jackie, as well as, a short program that gave a chance for a breast cancer survivor to tell her story and encourage others to take the necessary precautions in order to detect breast cancer as early as possible.

The event raised $5,000.00 which was donated on August 6, 2013 to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. LHR is very proud of its’ Caring and Sharing Committee and thanks its members for organizing such a successful event for such a worthy cause.
