Senior Counsel

Mr. Very enjoys thirty (30) years of experience as a complex commercial litigator.  Mr. Very’s experience also includes managing the legal affairs while acting as the Chief Compliance Officer for a young Pittsburgh area company.  Mr. Very’s wide range of clients and litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the country provides Mr. Very with a unique insight benefitting all his clients regarding their real estate, construction, municipal, and general commercial disputes, to name a few.

Mr. Very advised, drafted, analyzed, negotiated, and/or litigated various industry and other agreements. Mr. Very analyzed risk profiles and initiated and developed risk mitigation programs – including the analysis of contractual indemnities and risk exposure; Mr. Very has managed litigation and pre-litigation issues for his clients to avoid the formal initiation of lawsuits and advised and counseled clients on a variety of employment issues as well as the best practices for his clients.

Prior to his in-house counsel and Chief Compliance Officer position, Mr. Very practiced in the Pittsburgh office of Pepper Hamilton, LLP (now Troutman Pepper Locke) where he managed various complex commercial litigation matters involving multiple industries in federal and state courts, including contract interpretation issues regarding requirements contracts, corporate governance agreements, real estate transactions, civil rights, and financial services – lending and leasing. In the United States Bankruptcy Court, Mr. Very prosecuted over 100 preference matters, defended various avoidance actions, litigated debt versus equity issues, and secured the rights and interests of debtors and creditors.

With a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Mr. Very’s loyalty to the Fighting Irish knows no bounds.  He earned his Juris Doctorate degree, with distinction, from the Duquesne University School of Law.
